The Paris Optimist Foundation will soon be recipients of a grant from the Texas Rangers’ Foundation to upgrade portions of their facilities.

According to the Paris Optimist Foundation, the grant will assist in upgrades to the tee-ball and Buddy Baseball field (field 7) dugouts at the Charles Taylor Youth Complex at Woodall Fields. The upgrade will make the dugouts larger and handicap accessible as well as add storage units for equipment.

“We sponsor Buddy Ball which is run by the Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society which is our handicap league that also plays in the spring,” said Paris Optimist Foundation President Bill Sanders. “The dugouts aren’t handicap accessible so we applied for this grant and received it in order to upgrade the facilities.”

The Texas Rangers will be in Paris on January 23 at PJC’s Hunt Center (gymnasium) from 4:15 – 4:45 p.m. to make the grant presentation. Texas Rangers players, unknown at this time, will be at the presentation. The Paris Optimist Foundation is inviting coaches and players (past and present) to attend the presentation as well as anyone from the public who wants to be a part of the presentation.
