Mitchell helped lead his basketball and baseball team to the playoffs in 2018 and went to Area in track and field where he competed in long jump and triple jump in back-to-back appearances during the 2017 and 2018 season.
Being the Valedictorian of his class, he is an all A student and spends most of his time working at Braums or practicing basketball. When he is at practice, he enjoys helping the underclassmen get ready for the next level of sports and pushing them to lead the team in multiple varieties.
Mitchell’s favorite memory of high school so far is when he was able to make Beta his freshman year. He said he is grateful for the programs he is in because “They helped build me and shape my character while also building my integrity.” A piece of advice for the underclassmen from Mitchell, “No matter how bad or boring it gets keep your grades up.”
Mitchell’s head basketball coach Samuel Hollenshead said, “Jason Mitchell is an outstanding young man. He has shown the ability to be a leader on our basketball team, he is one of those guys that does what he is told when he is told to do it. He stands up for the right things; he can go out and be a great leader in the future.”
