Breakfast Optimist Baseball || Cubs Can’t Catch Up To Athletics

The Cubs lead by Coach Black Sanders fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-3 loss to the Athletics on tonigh5t.  The Athletics took the lead in the first inning.

The Cubs struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Athletics, giving up 12 runs.  The Athletics got things started in the first inning.  Griffith lined out, scoring one run.

The Cubs went on to  scored three runs in the fourth inning. The big bats in the inning were led by a single by Landon H and a double by Boots H.

The Athletics scored seven runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by the team  was led by Spradlin, Ward, Williams, Nicholson, and Allen, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Russell led things off on the pitcher’s mound for the Athletics. He allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one.

Brenden S was on the mound for the Cubs. He allowed three hits and four runs over two innings, striking out three.  Kedan A and Tristan P entered the game as relief, throwing two-thirds of an inning and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Tristan, Boots, Carter W, Kanyon W, and Landon each collected one hit to lead the Cubs.

The Athletics collected ten hits.  Johnson, Spradlin, and Russell each racked up multiple hits for the Athletics. Williams led the Athletics with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 19 stolen bases.
