Members of the Prairiland FFA chapter traveled to Texas State Technical College in Marshall on Wednesday to compete in the Area Leadership Development Events contests.

Students competed against twelve teams in each of the six different events. Agriculture Advocacy placed first, Public Relations placed second, Senior Skills and Greenhand Creed Speaking placed third, Radio Broadcasting placed fourth and Senior Quiz placed eighth.  

Agriculture Advocacy and Public Relations will advance to the state competition at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville on Dec. 9.

The Leadership Development Events focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization.
