Members of the Prairiland FFA chapter traveled to the Area CDE Contests to compete in Nursery Landscape, Floriculture, Forage, Land Judging, and Livestock Judging, Career Development Events.
Career Development Events (CDEs) build on what is learned in agricultural classes and encourage members to put their knowledge into practice. Approximately 14,100 students began the statewide tournament in 28 different events which reflect classroom instruction in basic technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
The Nursery Landscape team placed sixth at the Area Contest. Team members included: Jaden Borders, Madison Story, Lynzi Borders, and Avery Johnson.
The Floriculture team placed second and Jessie Thaten won third Highpoint Individual. The team advanced to compete at the state level at Sam Houston State University. Team members included: Jessie Thaten, Carysn Fernandez, Marietta Hamill, and Rebecca Painter.
The Forage team placed sixth at the Area Contest. Team members included: Wes Woodard, Ryan Dougherty, Shaeffer Suttle, and Austin Weeks.
The Land Judging team placed third and Emily Newman won eighth Highpoint Individual. The team advanced to compete at the state level at Tarleton State University. The Land Judging team placed fifteenth at their State Competition. Team members included: Emily Newman, Lane McGee, Wes Woodard, and Hunter Allison.
The Livestock Judging team participated at the Area Competition. Team members included: Allen Elliott, Anthia Miller, Alexus Eudy, and Shelby Eudy.
