Paris High School’s Joshua Rodgers took third place in Marine Service Technology at the 53rd annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference last month in Louisville, Kentucky.

Rodgers, who graduated in June from Paris High School, attended with instructor Michael Rhodes. As a result of his state and national wins, he has earned a scholarship to cover college tuition and fees.  He will choose from three different technical schools.

The SkillsUSA summer conference is the country’s largest showcase for career and technical education. Thousands of state contest winners compete in 100 different trade, technical, and leadership fields to prove their skills.

SkillsUSA is a national partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure this country has a skilled workforce.
