Eighteen members of the Chisum High School Beta Club recently brought home a second-place trophy in the Problem Solving Scenario competition from the National Beta Convention in Oklahoma City.
The team, who performed a skit over the topic of social media bullying and gun violence in schools, was comprised of Alex Gribble, Alissa Hutto, Paige Shelton, Sam Collins, Hannah Hurst, Ally Moffitt, William Norris, Ryan Pickering, Brianna Rogers, Zoe Tucker, George Gribble, Jordan Leverett, Brooke Bridges, Hannah Ford, Olivia Hostetler, Harmony Marsh, Kristen Parson and Jacob Peralta. Also receiving individual awards were:
- Alissa Hutto – 3rd Place in Div. II Photography;
- Zoe Tucker – 2nd Place in Div. II Drawing;
- Hannah Ford – 3rd Place Div. I Painting; and
- Sam Collins – 7th Place in 12th Grade Science.
The National Beta Club is an academic honor society, with an emphasis on service and leadership. Beta members compete against all classifications of schools at the state convention to qualify for nationals, where they compete against the top students from across the United States.
