The Chisum High School Beta Club recently took 49 members to the National Beta Texas State Convention in Grapevine. Members competed against other Betas from all classifications of high schools around the state in academics, art, and drama. Chisum Beta had 25 members qualify to compete at the National Beta Convention this June in Savannah, Georgia.
Chisum was the state champion for the second year in a row in Fresh Look at Beta, with Grace Preston, Jordan Leverett, Opal Carter and Evan Braziel competing. In the Visual Arts category, Alissa Hutto took second in Drawing, and Zoe Tucker also placed second in Mixed Media.
In academics, Rebecca Hurst placed third in twelfth grade Science, Hannah Hurst took third in tenth grade Language Arts, and ninth grader Jacob Meyers placed third in his class in Science.
Winning the second place award in the Character Skit competition were Carson Boyer, Erin Hurst, Alissa Hutto, Paige Shelton, Alex Gribble, William Norris, Ally Moffitt, Hannah Hurst, Kaci Williams, George Gribble, Jordan Leverett, McKenzie Carlton, Harmony Edwards, Chloe Prestridge, Evan Braziel, Bailee Dawes, Annie Cullum, Emmanuel Munoz, Opal Carter, Ryan Pickering and Fernando Coronado.
The National Beta Club is an academic honor society, with an emphasis on community service and leadership.
