Proposal filed to require students to pass civics test before graduating

Texas State Rep. Trent Ashby, R-Lufkin, has filed a proposal which could mandate all Texas high school students to pass a civics test before they’re able to graduate.

If passed, House Bill 1244 will require students to pass a test similar to the one given to people for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services test.

The bill will require students to pass with 70 percent or better.
