The body of an 18-month-old boy who went missing Wednesday has been found in a landfill in Rowlett.

The statewide Amber Alert has been cancelled.

Cedric Jackson was last seen just after midnight Wednesday in an apartment in the 9700 block of Whitehurst Drive. Cedric was reportedly with an aunt who had temporary custody. She said she put him to bed just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

“A juvenile witness that lives at the location described someone who looks like a relative as having taken Cedric at some point in the night,” said Dallas Police Major. Max Geron.

According to Fox 4 News, officers located the person of interest, but Cedric was not with him when police found him. He was taken to jail on unrelated warrants.

Anyone with information about Cedric’s death is asked to call 9-1-1.
