James Alvin Hines, Sr., 74 of Pattonville passed away at his home, Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled a graveside service for Friday, February 17, 2017 at Highland Cemetery in Deport.  No formal visitation is scheduled, however, Mr. Hines will lie in repose at the funeral home until the day of the service.

James was born September 10, 1942 in Cleburne to John C. Hines and Willie Reavis Hines.  He attended The University of Texas in Arlington and also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  James retired after 30 plus years of employment with General Motors in Arlington.  He loved farming, fishing and the solitude of the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Doug Hines and 2 sisters, Qualla Dillon & Roselle Pecena.  Survivors include his wife, Sharron Hines; children, James Hines, Jr., Tammy Long and Kimberly Crawford; grandchildren, Kirsten, Amber, Morgan, Kristin, Shelby, Nicole, Jorden and Jayson; 3 great-granddaughters, Evelynn, Vivienne and Anariya; a great-grandson, David; 2 sisters, Gracie Blackburn and Evelyn Hines; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Dillon; special friends, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of acquaintances.  Casket bearers will be Jay Long, Jayson Long, Jesse McFarland and Mike Crawford.  Honorary casket bearer will be Kenneth Dillon.
