Harold Lewis Griffis Sr. Sunrise: December 1, 1927 to sunset: December 23, 2018 Services are set for Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Cypress View Mausoleum and Crematory, 3953 Imperial Avenue San Diego, California 92113. The Rev. Larry Dixon, eulogist.

Harold was born on December 1, 1927, (91), in Paris, Texas. He was the child to the late Richard and Odessa (Troupe) Griffis. He attended Gibbons High School and was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Paris, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in 1950 and later received an honorable discharge. He was a self-employed auto mechanic as the owner of Griffis Garage. Shortly thereafter, he met and married Dorothy Sue Reed in June of 1955. Harold was blessed to have nine children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Odessa Griffis: granddaughters, Dacia Griffis, and Monicsha Griffis.

When Harold Sr. was called home on December 23, 2018 the legacy he left to carry on his wisdom and teachings included: daughters, Georgia Griffis of San Diego California,  Dianne Ross of Dallas, Texas, Sharon Griffis of Austin, Texas, Vickie Griffis-Jones of Sand Diego, California, Valeria Griffis of San Diego, California: sons include, Harold Griffis Jr. of San Diego, California, Craig (Shonda) Dangerfield of Paris, Texas, Gregory (Paulette) Griffis of San Diego, California, Nicholas (Tanya) Dangerfield of Dallas, Texas. Also to cherish in his memory are a host of grandchildren (21); great-grandchildren (40); great-great-grandchildren (4) and others that love him dearly.

Pallbearers will be Dontrell Griffis, Jamal Johnson, Brandon Jones, Craig Dangerfield, Nicholas Dangerfield, Ronald Gaither. Honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Griffis and Harold Griffis Jr.

The family of Harold Griffis Sr. wishes to express our sincere thanks for the flowers, calls, prayers, cards and other expressions of love during our time of bereavement.
