Jessie Ruth Davis, 64, of Powderly passed away peacefully surrounded by her family October 7, 2018. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2018, in Maxey Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. James Alexander serving as pastor and eulogist. Interment will follow to Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.
Jessie Ruth Davis was born February 14, 1954, in Lamar County to Willie Webb and Dorothy Mae Bass. She graduated Chicota High School and attended Paris Junior College. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Lynn, Willie Paul, Terry, Leon, and Curlese Webb. She is survived by her children Roshan Davis (Dr. Wayne Scott) of O’Fallon, IL, Kimberly Davis (Jacob Lopez) of Mesquite, TX, and granddaughter, Houston Scott of Houston, TX, and former husband Fred Davis of Grant Oklahoma. She is also survived by siblings; Florence (Richard) Boyd and Eloise Wynn of Dallas, TX; Trudy Webb (Charles), Ray Webb (Louise); Kenneth Webb, Ramona Hickerson of Paris, TX, and Patrick Webb of Arthur City, TX. Also, sisters-in-law Alice Webb and Lucy Webb of Paris, TX, and Gertrude Webb of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Also, a special friend Jimmy Nickerson of Paris, TX.
She was employed by Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma and Choctaw Casino. Jessie was a lifetime and faithful member of Oak Hill Baptist Church Arthur City, TX, and served the church in several capacities. She loved sewing and cooking for the family Sunday dinners.
