Betty Jean Washburn House, 86, of Paris, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Loving officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. House was born June 21, 1932, in Baytown to Margaret and Tom Washburn. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown. Betty Washburn married William McGarvey House on Sept. 21, 1950, in Baytown. The couple spent fifty-eight happily married years together until her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2009.

Mrs. House was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church. She was actively involved in community activities and was a member of Circle Club, Tuesday Bridge Club, Thursday Bridge Club, Round Table, Big Supper Club, and Good Earth Garden Club where she made special lifelong friends. Her absence will be felt for years to come.

Survivors include her twin daughters and son and 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her family members include daughter Jeanne Teeter of Paris, granddaughters Erin Carey, MD and her husband Mark Carey, great grandsons, Dean and Reid Carey from Chapel Hill, NC; Courtney Schweitzer and her husband Mark Schweitzer and her great grandsons, Jaxon James and Lincoln Mac Schweitzer from Springfield, MO; Ashla DeMoss and her husband BJ DeMoss, and her great granddaughter, Berkeley DeMoss from Springfield, MO; and grandson Skyler Teeter of Mansfield. Daughter Julia Blind and her husband Steve Blind of Davie, FL; her granddaughters Stephanie Jaffe and her husband Shaun Jaffe of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Natalie Bender and her husband Jared Bender, a great granddaughter, Lucy Bender of Davie, FL; Jessica Blind of Davie, FL; grandson Todd Blind and his wife Ivana Blind, and great granddaughter, Adéla Blind of Davie, FL. Son William McGarvey House, III of Galveston, daughter-in-law Marianna Baker of Kingwood, and grandchild William McGarvey House, IV and his wife Jaylee House, great grandson William Hudson House of Chicago, IL, Paige Stewart and her husband James Stewart of Galveston, and Reid and Dayae House of Dallas and Megan House and her husband Bailey Gant of Paris. She also had numerous nieces & nephews in Texas.

Casket bearers will be: Skyler Reese Teeter, William McGarvey House, III, Colin Reid House, David House, Bailey Gant and Tommy Felty.

The family requests that memorials be made in her honor to CASA for KIDS, Paris, TX.
