Wings Over Paris has been cancelled due to a $22,000 funding deficit, according to Paris City Manager John Godwin.

Godwin said the city is “extremely disappointed not to be able to offer this great event in 2019.

“However, as of last week, we still had a funding deficit of $22,000,” Godwin said. “So it was just not possible to proceed.”

He said the show costs about $45,000 and the city contributes $11,000, and some revenues — $5 parking — come in the day of the event.

“But the rest is dependent on sponsorships,” Godwin said. “Though we had a lot of great local businesses support the show, there was not enough money to pay for the show.”

Godwin said instead of using more city funds, they decided to cancel the event this year.
