Two from Paris are dead after a motor vehicle accident in Collin County.
At approximately 6:42 p.m. on Saturday, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were called to a crash on SH 121 near County Road 581 in Collin County.
According to Lonny Haschel of DPS, preliminary investigations indicate a 2014 GMC Pickup was traveling southbound on SH 121. A 2005 Honda Pilot was traveling northbound on SH 121.
At some point, the GMC crossed into the northbound lane where it was struck by the Honda. The Honda rolled into a ditch on the east side of the roadway. It was raining at the time of the collision.
The driver of the GMC, Karen Villegas, 24, of Bonham, died at the scene. Three passengers were taken to hospitals with serious injuries where one of them, Otoniel Hernandez, 22, died. A second passenger, Jose Galacia, 29, also of Bonham sustained serious injuries. The third passenger, a two-year-old male, sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and a passenger in the Honda, George (Chris) Emerson, 54, and Becky Emerson, 58, both of Paris, died at the scene. A third person, their daughter Misty, 22, was transported to Medical City McKinney with serious injuries.
The crash is under investigation and no additional information is currently available.
