Site Manager Carrie Wigley saved a life earlier this week while working at the Pshigoda Senior Center in Paris.
After serving lunch, one of the center clients began to choke on a piece of food, said Meals on Wheels Executive Director Shelly Braziel.
“Carrie stayed calm, her training kicked in and she performed the Heimlich maneuver on the client,” Braziel said. “She was able to successfully dislodge the food and the client is doing fine. We are so proud that our staff member knew what to do, stayed calm, and remembered her training. This client is alive and healthy today because of Carrie’s quick thinking and brave actions.”
Braziel said Wigley is being presented with an Award of Commendation for her brave actions next week.
“I thank God that our staff goes through CPR and First Aid training each year,” Braziel added.
