One of the most popular meteor showers of the year, the Perseids will fill the sky tonight.
According to NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke, spectators can expect to see 10-15 Perseids per hour, with more being visible during the peak around 3 a.m.
Experts advise to go to the darkest possible location and lean back to observe as much sky as possible directly above you. To help with this, Cooper Lake State Park Doctor’s Creek Unit is hosting a meteor shower party Tuesday.
According to Cooper Lake State Park Doctor’s Creek officials, there will be games to celebrate the shower, as well as a discussion on the different kinds of space objects you may see in the dark park skies.
Spectators are asked to meet at the boat ramp and bring water. Those 13 years old and older will cost $5 per person. There’s no need to register – just show up.
Cooper Lake State Park Doctor’s Creek is at 1664 FM 1529 South in Cooper.
