Betty Vessels of Paris, Texas || Obituary


Betty Vessels, 85, of Paris, Texas passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22 at Springlake Baptist Church with the Rev. Guille Seigler and the Rev. Chris Liebrum officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery at Honey Grove. The family
will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Betty, the daughter of C. O. “Oma” and Mattie Pearl Bagley, was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Fannin County. She grew up in Honey Grove, Texas, and graduated from Honey Grove High School. She married Leeman Vessels in 1950, and they were
happily married for 68 years. She was with Leeman when he served in the Air Force for four years, and were based in Greenville, South Carolina and Hawaii.

Betty was a homemaker and was active in several volunteer activities, including the school PTA. She was an officer in the state PTA. She also served as the church secretary and worked with the youth at White Rock Baptist Church, Mesquite, Texas. After transferring membership in 1974, she was involved in the Sunday school ministries at First Baptist Church, Dallas. She was a member of Springlake Baptist Church in Paris.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Leeman Vessels; her sister, Ouida Howard; her daughter, Sue Ann Brown and husband, Will; her son, Robert Vessels and wife Kathy; her grandchildren, Jamie Kristen Eylar, Casey Kristen, Robert Paul Vessels,
Christopher Vessels and wife Chelsea, and Mary Vessels; and her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Eylar, Joe Eylar, Autumn Vessels, David William Vessels, James Leeman Vessels, and Lyllian Harper Rhoades.

The family would like to express thanks to the nurses, aides and all workers in the rehab wing at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their care and assistance.
