Lamar County Commissioners have named former Paris Police Officer Jeff Jones as the new Constable for Precinct 2.
“I would like to thank the Commissioner Court for appointing me to the position of Constable of Precinct 2,” Jones said. “I will do the job to the best of my abilities. Having 22 years of experience as a peace officer, I feel I’m very qualified.”
After meeting behind closed doors to discuss the three applicants — Jones, Tel Pitcock and David Niblett — commissioners reconvened and appointed Jones.
Jones takes Mike Ford’s place and will represent the southwestern portion of the county. Jones will officially begin after Ford’s last day on March 2.
