New Hope Center of Paris works to promote healthy activities to those staying at the center. There are many obstacles in trying to do so, such as space and finances.

One of those obstacles was eliminated with the kindness of fifth-grade student Carter Whitten. During North Lamar’s Skip, Jump and Run event, Carter raised the most money, and his reward was a basketball goal.

Whitten had attended the open house that New Hope Center of Paris held in November 2018 during National Homelessness Awareness Week. Whitten knew he wanted the basketball goal to go to the center.
