Tonight, starting at 6:30 p.m., Deport will kick off it’s fifteenth annual Freedom Festival for everyone to come and enjoy for free.
“Since August of last year, we have been planning and preparing to make our Freedom Festival in Deport even bigger and better,” said Deport Mayor John Mark Francis. “We take such pride in our program because it’s more than a fireworks show, it’s an event for the entire family to honor all of our men and women currently serving and all of those that have served to protect and preserve our freedom. From the shores of Normandy to the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, America has been a beacon of hope and freedom for the world.”
6:30 to 8:45 p.m. – Free games for all kids to enjoy, including a waterslide.
6:30 to 9 p.m. – Twisted Whisky performs
9 p.m. – Patriotic fireworks
9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. – Street dance
There will be a paid concession stand hosted by Deport American Legion featuring brisket sandwiches, hot dogs, chili pie, drinks, and popcorn.
“We want to invite everyone to come out and bring your family to enjoy the program and the fireworks show. There is something to do for the entire family. From free games and cotton candy for the kids starting at 6:30 to the cake walk to the Patriotic Program with special music and fireworks show, you will not want to miss it,” said Francis.
