Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Downtown Paris is going green with this year’s Downtown Paris Mini Golf Challenge to support the Downtown Food Pantry.
“Paris, Texas, Main Street Program is always in the mood for fun and games that will bring people to our historic downtown,” said Main Street Board Chair Glee Emmite referring to the Mini Golf Challenge set for March 15 and March 16 in downtown. “In partnership with the Paris Downtown Association, Main Street is planning a weekend event for the whole family. The idea is to enjoy 18 holes of mini golf set up in or outside of businesses, be eligible to win prizes and enjoy retail and restaurant discounts at participating locations.”
During the event, participants will go to 18 locations to play a hole of golf. Each location will have a theme green built for this event. Participants can bring their own putter or golf ball, but it isn’t necessary as all supplies will be provided at every stop.
Golfers with a hole-in-one on any green and certain low scores will be placed in the March 16 raffle, and they don’t need to be present to win. Raffle items include rounds of golf provided by Pine Ridge Golf Course and Paris Golf and Country Club.
Admission to the event is $5 per adult, and children 13 and under are free with an adult. Wristbands will be provided and the admission price is good for both Friday evening and Saturday. A $1 dollar donation of each wristband purchase will be distributed to the Downtown Food Pantry.
Friday night, local golf pro Cathy Harbin will provide a golf demonstration at Hickory Street Emporium, one of the stops along the course. And there will be 19th Hole specials offered in participating downtown restaurants both Friday and Saturday.
”The response from the community for this event has been great,” said Main Street Coordinator Cheri Bedford. “I am so pleased that local businesses have stepped up and want to build greens, volunteer at the event and provide prizes.”
Tickets will go on sale at a location near the Plaza at 4:45 p.m. on March 15 and available until 7:30 p.m. Sales will resume March 16 at 10:45 a.m. All participants will receive a wristband and score card.
