On Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, the Creative Arts Center opens an exhibition of artwork by Kay Carrel. A reception will be held that evening from 5-6:30 p.m. and the community is invited to meet Carrel and see her work.
“This exhibit should be one everybody can enjoy,” said arts center Director Lisa Avila. “Kay’s vibrant colors and familiar themes will resonate with most everyone. From cowboys and ranch life to beautiful landscapes, Kay’s art has a timeless appeal.”
Carrel is one of the founders of the Fannin Community Foundation which opened the Creative Arts Center in 2002. It was the dream of Carrel and the other founders that an artist’s home be established in Bonham.
Since then, the center has become the cultural hub of the region, offering concerts, lectures, classes, theater and festivals as well as art exhibits. With outreach programs like Art in the Park and community art projects like the Bicycle Sculpture Challenge, the Creative Arts Center continues to fulfill the vision of Carrel and other founders.
The Creative Arts Center is at 200 W. 5th Street in Bonham. For more information, call 903-640-2196.
A Taste of Color runs through Oct. 27. The gallery is open from Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
