Lt. John Berry to retire after more than 27 years at the Paris Police Department

The Paris Police Department announced today that Leutinent John Berry will retire from the department in just three days.

After more than 27  years with the Paris Police Department, he is moving on to a new position with the Paris Independent School District.

Chief of Police Bob Hundley reflected on Berry’s application that was completed in February 1991 and saw what he had written in the final paragraph more than 27 years ago.

“John’s basic reputation is that of an all-round upright, moral, good person. John is held in high regard by people that he works with, is friends with, and his employers,” said Hundley.

Hundley went on to say that the statement is still true today. Berry worked in uniform patrol, SWAT, Criminal Investigation Division as well as many supervisory roles.  His most recent assignment was running the Office of Professional Standards according to Hundley.

“We want to publicly thank John for the many years of service to our department and our community. We wish him continued success in his new position with PISD,” said Hundley. “We already know he’ll be good at this job.”

eParisExtra would also like to thank  Lt. Berry for his many years of serving our city and for the many phone calls and email responses to help us deliver news to our local community. We wish you the best!
