A benefit is set for Christopher “Bubba” Whitley, 33, who was hospitalized after his vehicle wrecked with an 18-wheeler on June 4 around 4 a.m. The benefit is set for Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at The Eagles lodge.
Whitley was rushed to Paris Regional and later transferred to a Dallas area hospital where he was in serious condition.
“He’s out of the hospital now,” said Lynn Eatherly, a member of The Eagles Lodge. “But he has a lot of medical bills to pay for. We just want to help him out.”
He said the lodge decided to help by putting together a day of live auctions and food on Saturday. Members of the lodge will offer $10 brisket sandwiches, baked beans and coleslaw plates.
“We’ll also have a live auction around 3 p.m.,” he said. “And we’re taking donations for that, too.”
Donations for the auction are needed, and anything goes.
“We’ll take everything from a pie to a free car wash to a broom,” he said. “It doesn’t matter – we’ll auction whatever people are willing to donate.”
Donations can be made by stopping at the lodge at 1125 N.W. Loop 286 in Paris, or by calling 903-785-9090.
“Bubba is a good man,” he said. “We just want to do what we can to help.”
