Governor Greg Abbott, during his State of the State address, recognized Paris, Texas, in his speech.

Along with focusing on schools and taxes, he mentioned the Texas economy is not limited to the big cities.

“Job creating projects have broken ground in places ranging from Amarillo to Brownsville, Lufkin and Mt. Pleasant, Temple and Paris, Texas,” he said. “These business expansions are a result of the Texas Enterprise Fund, which promotes economic diversification.”

Mayor Steve Clifford said he was pleased to hear Paris mentioned in the address.

“I think it is wonderful that the governor has taken the time to acknowledge the growth of jobs in rural areas,” he said. “I’m sure he shares our excitement for having ASW come to Paris. I’m very pleased he chose to recognize us during his speech.
