The Creative Arts Center’s sixth annual Red River Art, Wine & Music Fest is on the calendar for Saturday, May 11 from 9 to 6. This year’s festival will incorporate many of the same activities with some new ones as well. As always, admission is free.
“The cold temperatures in April the last several years impacted our festival attendance,” says Creative Arts Center Executive Director Lisa Avila. “May’s weather is better, so we opted to change our date. Mother’s Day weekend is a great time to bring Mom out to taste wine or listen to music and find her a unique and artful gift for her special day. The kids will have lots to do with great art projects and face painting too. The Art Walk is also a great family activity.”
Music is always a big part of the festival and wine tasting, artist vendors, the Art Walk, children’s activities and a Silent Auction will be offered all day long. This year’s lineup of performers includes crowd favorites the Little Goddess Trybe belly dancers and the Neblett Elementary Dynamite Drummers and Choir. The Bonham Big Band Express also returns. But this year, Sons of Fannin are on the schedule and the center is really excited to have them part of this year’s event. Other newcomers to the festival – the Sherman Police Regional Pipe Band.
A Youth Art Contest is always part of the festival and all youth may enter this contest for free. There is also an exhibition of art both adults and youth and this year’s theme is Spring Showers Bring May Flowers.
