RECALL

Ford has issued a recall which covers about 1.5 million Ford pickups due to an unintended downshift to first gear, causing at least five accidents so far.

“Depending on vehicle speed, a downshift to first gear without warning could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford said in a statement today.

The recall affects select 2011-2013 Ford F-150 vehicles with six-speed automatic transmissions. Ford said dealers will update the powertrain control module software in the affected vehicles. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S07.
