The Paris Municipal Band is expected to begin its summer season Friday at Bywaters Park, 300 S. Main St.

“We are going to have a very entertaining program this week and would like to see you in the audience,” Joe Watson, band director, said.

Watson said concerts typically last about an hour and are free to the public.

He said the concert selections vary from week to week. This week’s show will feature “The March King” by John Philip Sousa, folk suite based on music by Bob Dylan and “a special tribute to The Avengers.

“We had our second rehearsal on Tuesday night, and things are going great,” Watson said. “We rehears again this Thursday and will perform our first concert of the season on Friday night.”

Watson said each concert ends with the band’s theme song by Cole Porter, “I Love Paris.”

This year’s schedule for the municipal band’s concerts, held at Bywaters Park are June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 3 and 12. Each concert is expected to begin at 8:30 p.m.

If any inclement weather pops up, Watson said this week’s concert would be moved to North Lamar High School auditorium.
