Police investigate after two shootings were reported over the weekend.
The first happened early Saturday morning, around 3 a.m., when police were called to Paris Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound.
Paris Police Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett said officers were told the shooting happened near the corner of 5th Street N.E. and Tudor Street.
“The victim stated there had been a fight inside the club just prior to the shooting,” Garrett said. “The gunshots are reported to have come from a silver Dodge vehicle.”
Garrett said the victim had non-life threatening wounds and was released from the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, another shooting was reported – this time in the 3100 block of Clarksville Street.
Garrett said the report states that a 36-year-old man had assaulted a 5-year-old child when the mother of the child called the father of the child to intervene.
When the father arrived, a fight ensued between the man and father.
“The 36-year-old man produced a handgun and shot at the father,” Garrett said. “No one was injured from the gunshots.”
No names have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
