Traffic stops led police to several drug arrests over the holiday weekend.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2018, Paris police officers pulled over 52-year-old Jack Douglas Dennis of Paris for a traffic violation in the 10 block of 13th Street N.E.
“The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” said Curtis Garrett of the Paris Police Department. “A search of the driver, Dennis, resulted in the discovery of marijuana and methamphetamine.”
The passenger, 43-year-old Rebecca Marie Daniels, was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and had outstanding warrants.
Both were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. They were transferred to Lamar County Jail for bond setting.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, Paris police officers pulled over 45-year-old Kathy Mae Munoz for a traffic violation in the 1500 block of N. Main Street.
Garrett said during the investigation, Munoz was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and several pills for which she could not produce a prescription.
“She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the methamphetamine and three counts of possession of a dangerous drug for the pills,” Garrett said. “She was later placed in Lamar County Jail.”
No bonds have yet been set.
