Police are investigating after a local jewelry store was targeted by thieves.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Paris police were called to David House Jewelry in the 4200 block of Lamar Avenue for reports of a theft.
Curtis Garrett with the Paris Police Department said when officers arrived, they were told a white man and woman entered the store asking to look at some jewelry.
“While the clerk was distracted, a diamond ring valued at more than $6,000 came up missing,” Garrett said. “The clerk did not notice that the ring was missing until after the couple had left.”
No surveillance footage is yet available, and the investigation is ongoing.
