Officers catch alleged shoplifter after brief chase in parking lot || Estajia Hicks

Officers caught an alleged shoplifter Thursday after a brief chase in the parking lot.

Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue for reports of a shoplifter.

Lt. Doug Thompson of the Paris Police Department said when officers arrived, the suspect was running from the loss prevention personnel.

“Officers located the suspect in the parking lot and the suspect began running and hiding from officers,” Thompson said. “Officers were able to catch and detain the suspect.”

Identified was Estajia Hicks. She was arrested for Class C Theft, less than $100, evading arrest and detention, and five outstanding warrants including aggravated robbery, theft of property between $100 – $750, assault by threat, failure to appear and failure to display driver’s license.

She was taken to Lamar County Jail.
