-

Police say a man with drugs fled arrest on a bicycle Wednesday, but was captured shortly after.

Terry Bull of the Paris Police Department said officers were performing a security check in the 1600 block of Bonham Street when they made contact with Thomas Andrew Johnson.

“He identified himself only as Andrew Johnson,” Bull said. “While waiting or a warrant check, Johnson fled the scene on a bicycle.”

He was pursued and captured after leaving the bicycle and running on foot, Bull said.

Johnson resisted arrest, but was taken into custody.

“A search revealed a quantity of narcotics and drug paraphernalia on his person,” Bull said. “He also had numerous warrant from the Paris Police Department and Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.”
