A woman is behind bars after she allegedly stole bacon from Kroger and fought with an officer.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Paris police officers were called for a theft in the 1300 block of Clarksville Street.

Curtis Garrett with the Paris Police Department said when officers arrived, they were told 50-year-old Janice Reed placed packages of bacon inside her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for them.

“As the officer attempted to place Reed under arrest, she pushed the officer and attempted to flee in a vehicle,” he said. “Reed fought with the officer again and was arrested.”
