Guilty verdict handed down to Paris man for child sex crimes

-

A Lamar County jury handed down a 70-year sentence to a man who was found guilty of child sex crimes.

The victim, according to records, was under the age of 14.

Lamar County Assistant District Attorney Kelsey Doty said the County and District Attorney’s office was pleased with the verdict returned against Kory Allen Battiest.

“The jury verdict of 70 years in prison will ensure that this man will not be eligible for parole for 35 years,” Doty said. “That, alone, will give peace of mind to the child victim and her family; and, will send a message to sex offenders in our county that this type of crime will not be tolerated.”
