Morrison gets 30 years for murder

Ashley Morrison received 30 years today in her punishment hearing in the murder of Annie Sims. Morrison who was being held in the Lamar County Jail for over two years decided to forgo a plea deal and she and her attorney, David Turner, Jr. chose to let a jury of peers hear her case.  Morrison’s case went before Lamar County Judge Bill Harris in April and due to a lack of jurors, the case was declared a mistrial. Jury finds Ashley Morrison guilty of murder – Full story on punishment hearing this afternoon

After a one and a half day trial, a Smith County jury found Ashley Morrison guilty of murder yesterday. eParisExtra spoke with Lamar County District Attorney, Gary Young after the trial, “We start punishment hearing tomorrow, and should have a punishment set by tomorrow afternoon.
