The Master’s golf tournament at Augusta National marks the start of the golf season in Texas. And this year there is added excitement with Tiger Woods’s return to form. Even if you are not yet a golfer, it is hard to avoid watching or hearing about golf during the Master’s week.

After being inspired by the Master’s, Texans start dusting off their clubs and making golf a part of their routine again. But what if you are not yet a golfer but want to be? How do you get into golf and become part of the community?

Taking the first step into golf is often the hardest part for many wanna-be golfers. They don’t know where to go, what to do, or how to do it! If that sounds like you, don’t worry. I understand that golf can be intimidating, and so does the PGA of America. To help novice players ease into the golf community, the PGA of America has a program called ‘Get Golf Ready.’ The program introduces new golfers to the basic technique, the equipment and the golf course. In addition, by learning in a small-group environment, players will meet other new golfers and start building up a circle of future golf buddies.

If you caught the golf bug during the Master’s week and want to give it a try, check out the PGA of America’s Get Golf Ready program here and sign yourself up for upcoming Get Golf Programs at Pine Ridge in Paris, Texas.

I look forward to welcoming you to the golf community!
