A nap behind the wheel led officers to a drug bust Monday.
Around 9 a.m., Paris police officers and Paris Emergency Medical Services responded to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue for reports of a man who appeared to be asleep behind the steering wheel of a vehicle.
Curtis Garrett of the Paris Police Department said when officers made contact with the man, 20-year-old Justin Drake Kresen, they could smell “a strong odor of marijuana.” Garrett said officers searched Kresen and found a small baggie of methamphetamine in his wallet. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
He was taken to Lamar County Jail where his bonds were set at $4,500.
