Two men are behind bars for separate burglaries — one of a home and one of a store. Another burglary remains under investigation.
Shortly before noon on Wednesday, Paris police officers were called to a home in the 1300 block of E. Sherman Street for reports of a home burglary. Paris Police Lt. John Berry said when officers arrived, they were told an unknown suspect entered the home and stolen a computer and DVD player. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
Around 9 a.m. on Thursday, police were called to the 2400 block of W. Kaufman Street for another burglary. Berry said when officers arrived, they were told someone had broken into the building and stolen numerous items.
“Officers located Jearmey Dean Morgan, 30, behind a nearby residence where it was determined that he did not reside,” Berry said. “Morgan was placed under arrest for a misdemeanor charge and was later charged with burglary of the building.”
Berry said Morgan was also found to have numerous misdemeanor warrants and was charged with those as well. He was taken to Paris Municipal Jail where he awaits arraignment.
Just after midnight this morning, police were called to Wal-Mart for reports of a burglary. When officers arrived, they were told Jesse Dewayne Black, 49, has walked out of the store with items until her jacket.
“Black was found to have taken items from the store without paying for them,” Berry said. “He was placed under arrested and, due to previous convictions, the charge was enhanced to theft of property, less than $2,500, with two or more previous convictions.”
Black was taken to Paris Municipal Jail where he awaits arraignment.
