No bond has been set for a man accused of assaulting an officer.
Around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Paris police officers were called to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue for a welfare concern.
Paris Police Lt. John Berry said when officers arrived, they found 26-year-old Billy Dewayne Foster. He was arrested for two misdemeanor offenses and taken to Paris Municipal Jail.
“Once at the jail, Foster became resistant to officers and struck one of the officers in the face with his head causing a small laceration above the officer’s eye,” Berry said.
Foster was then charged with assaulting a public officer, in addition to resisting arrest and criminal trespass. He’s since been transported to Lamar County Jail where no bond has been set.
