What I am about to say might not be what you want to hear, but I feel the need to include this side, not on smoothie consumption:

I personally would not recommend anyone to drink this smoothie as a meal replacement, but instead, would encourage you to enjoy this more as a dessert or afternoon snack. It is important to keep blood sugar levels balanced throughout the day for optimal health and drinking fruit based smoothies as a meal is generally not the best way to do that. In pureed form, the fruit will be digested much quicker and can potentially cause a quick rise in blood sugar only to be followed by a crash, especially on an empty stomach. I say this not to scare you away from drinking this recipe, but to encourage you to be mindful of your fruit consumption. I also say this because over consuming fruit is often one of the most common mistakes people make when trying to make a healthy lifestyle change. Sugar is still sugar, even in natural whole food form.

Fruit is nature’s dessert and should be treated as such. Enjoy this delicious recipe, but remember to keep balance in your overall diet with plenty of high-quality protein, fresh vegetables and good quality fats.
