Former Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Alex Richters offered his letter of resignation to the Prairiland Independent School District Board of Trustees on Friday and his letter was accepted.
In December, Richters was reassigned as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach in a different capacity within the Prairiland district. This is not the first time Richters has been reassigned within a school district. Richters was also reassigned in 2012 by the Marshall Independent School District. Richters replaced Thed Harris, who led Marshall to a 28-19 record in four seasons, all of which ended in playoff appearances. Harris led Marshall to a 9-4 record and a Class 4A Division I Region II semifinal in 2009. However, the 2011-12 seasons under Richters reign marked the first time Marshall has failed to win more than three games combined since 1957-58, when the Mavs went a combined 3-14-2.
Superintendent Jeff Ballard has stated “Richters has been struggling to make the decision to stay or leave, however we accepted his decision on Friday.”
Ballard went on to say,”Alex is a good man and we appreciate all that he has done for our kids and the district.”
eParisExtra.com reached out to Coach Richters for a comment and he stated, “no thank you.”
