Workforce SolutionsWorkforce Solutions Northeast Texas recognized area employers, Board members and distinguished partners during the organization’s annual celebration on October 26th at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center.  Three employers, one Board member, an Independent School District, a customer, and 4 Texas Rising Star child care providers were recognized for their contributions to the Northeast Texas workforce system.

Beako Manufacturing Company was recognized as the Local Employer of Excellence.   Beako Manufacturing Company has been in business for over forty-nine years, providing the residents of Cass County with great employment opportunities and their customers, both locally and international, with great products. The Company was opened by Ken and Sue Cullins in 1969 to service military and industrial contractors. The company employs approximately 45 people and is seeking ways to expand and grow the business. Beako also places emphasis on employee retention and development. Over the past year, Beako has partnered with Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas on 6 On-the-Job Training contracts.   Beako understands the important role they play to their employees, their community and most of all their customers. Above all else, they understand that integrity is everything as evidenced by their company motto, “You never do wrong by doing right.”

This year Workforce Solutions recognized a larger employer and a small employer with the designation of Employer of the Year.



The Large Employer of the Year was awarded to Titus Regional Medical Center.  Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) fully utilizes the Workforce Solutions WorkInTexas job database system for all job postings and participates in all of the Board’s local job fairs.  TRMC also utilizes the On the Job Training (OJT) Program and often participates in the weekly profiling classes for dislocated workers held at the local workforce center.  During the last year TRMC added 44 jobs to the local economy by expanding healthcare offerings. TRMC recently added a Clinical Decision Unit, opened the Community Care Center, expanded the Family Care Center, expanded Emergency Medical Services footprint, and opened a Heart Catheterization Lab. All projections indicate growth will continue for the foreseeable future, impacting both the local workforce and economy. Through these efforts, TRMC has become a regional health system of choice, dedicated to healing and well-being through a culture of excellence and compassion.

The Small Employer of the Year was awarded to Mayo Manufacturing.   Mayo Manufacturing, a third generation locally owned business operating for more than 50 years, is an upholstered furniture manufacturer producing a full line of fabric and leather sofas, loveseats, chairs, ottomans and sleepers. Since its founding in 1965 the company has been owned and operated by the Mayo family. The company currently employees 194 full time workers at their facility, in positions such as sales, design, logistics, customer service, upholstery, sewing and production. Over the past year, Mayo experienced increased sales, adding 6 new positions and a facility expansion project resulting in an additional 17,000 square feet of space.  Mayo has been a key figure in the Texarkana economy for 5 decades, providing jobs and wages for area workers. Mayo is dedicated to their employees, their customers, and their community.

Board Member Ronda Dozier of Texarkana was recognized with the Board Member of the Year award.   Ronda is committed to the Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas organization, as noted in her nomination: “Ronda has been a conscientious and dedicated member of the Board during her term.  In addition to being an active and engaged participant in committee and board meetings, she has eagerly assisted the organization on numerous occasions when planning and conducting events to serve youth, employers and job seekers.  Ronda is a strong advocate of the work we do and one of the Board’s best cheerleaders.”

The Outstanding Achievement with Career and Technology Education (CTE) award was presented to the Sulphur Springs Independent School District.  The mission of Sulphur Springs High School Career and Technical Education is to empower students to attain the technical and soft skills necessary to facilitate student leadership and gain a competitive edge for college and career readiness in today’s global society.  Workforce Solutions is an active member of the High School CTE Advisory Committee comprised of community/industry representatives, post-secondary education representatives, teachers, students, counselors, and administration and meets several times each year to help develop goals to improve CTE departments and programs and bridge the gap between industry and the classroom.

The Exemplary Youth award was presented to Jasmine Saucedo.  She was a high school graduate but was basic skills deficient in math and language and had no job.  Upon enrollment in Workforce Solutions Out-of-School Youth program, Ms. Saucedo attended Nurses Aid training at Paris Junior College.  Concurrent with attending training, Ms. Saucedo worked diligently in the Win Learning Soft Skills training offered through the workforce center. She successfully finished this training, completed her Nurse Aide training at PJC and passed her State certification Exam.  As a result, Ms. Saucedo secured full-time employment in a self-sustaining job.

Workforce Solutions recognized four Texas Rising Star child care providers for their efforts to provide high quality care to the children they serve. Texas Rising Star (TRS) is a quality rating and improvement system for Texas early childhood programs. Those providers that voluntarily achieve TRS provider certification, offering quality care that exceeds the State’s Minimum Child Care Licensing Standards for director and staff qualifications, caregiver-child interactions, age-appropriate curricula and activities, nutrition and indoor/outdoor activities, and parent involvement and education, are in a better position to contribute to the early development of children. As providers progress through the levels of TRS provider certification, they contribute progressively more to the development of the children they serve on a daily basis.

Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas is one of 28 workforce boards across the state providing assistance to employers and job seekers.  The board’s mission is to be “a driving force” in the area to provide employers with workforce support for the economic benefit of the communities served.  The organization serves a nine-county region in Northeast Texas including:  Bowie, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River and Titus counties.
