The Paris-Lamar County Health District will be offering Living Well with a Chronic Condition workshop to help people with chronic conditions find effective ways of coping and managing their health. They are for anyone with an ongoing condition – diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, obesity, or anxiety. The free six week workshop is designed to help people improve their health by finding practical ways to deal with pain, fatigue and stress and to discover better nutritional and exercise choices. The workshops were developed by Stanford University and are evidence based programs and recommended by the Center for Disease Control.
The upcoming scheduled workshop that is set to begin on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 and will meet once a week for six weeks until September 21. The classes will be held at the Hayden Room located at Paris Regional Medical Center’s North Campus (865 Deshong Drive). The class will meet from 9 – 11 a.m.
Although workshops are free, registration is required in order to have adequate materials for all participants. Family members of someone with a chronic condition are invited to register also. The Paris-Lamar County Health District, located at 400 West Sherman Street, provides services that are primarily preventive medical treatment. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
