Reno Parks and Trails Committee has announced its plan for a BBQ Cook-off Summer Celebration set for June 29 from noon to sundown at Reno Kiwanis Park, 6820 Pine Mill Road.
“Put your skills to the test in this Amateur BBQ Cook-off Competition,” Reno Parks and Trail Committee said in a social media post.
All proceeds benefit Reno Volunteer Fire Department.
“We all work as a team and are so blessed to have such a great volunteer fire department,” Amanda Willows, Parks and Trail Committee’s Vice-Chairperson, said. “This event is going to be tremendous. We hope everyone will grab their chairs and come out for an amazing day of activities — great food, awesome vendors, live music, water slides, bounce houses, games and an incredible firework show, courtesy of Reno Fireworks.”
Chad Graves, Reno Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief, said the department and city have continuously shared a good relationship.
“The idea for this event came from a discussion between me and Joey McCarthy (Mayor Pro Tem),” Graves said. “Then our parks committee got involved and really help create what we hope to be a great event.”
An adult plate will be $10, and $5 for a child’s plate. Plates will be served from noon-2 p.m.
To sign up for the cook-off, visit Reno City Hall, 160 Blackburn in Reno, or message the Reno Parks and Trails Committee’s Facebook page here, to get a team entry form.
