Practicing law in Texas for 15 years has given Chris Fitzgerald the experience and expertise he needs to successfully operate Fitzgerald Law on the square in downtown Paris, Texas.

Born and raised in Paris, Chris attended Paris ISD schools from kindergarten through graduating from Paris High School. He followed on to Texas A&M University, College Station, graduating from the nationally ranked Mays College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 1999. He attended and received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2002.

Chris started his Legal career with the Moore Law Firm in Paris, Texas. After 5 years he was presented the opportunity to join a large regional law firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. While there he gained experience working in a sophisticated practice as both a transactional attorney and as a trial attorney.  He practiced in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, commercial lending, estate planning and probate.

“I really enjoyed the opportunity to work and learn while practicing in the firm’s litigation group as well,” said Chris.

After a few years, he joined a colleague, G. Mack Zimmerman, in Southlake, Texas, practicing the same law as he did at the large firm. While still working with Zimmerman Law Firm, he opened his own office in Paris. Splitting time between Southlake and his local office here, he found himself growing increasingly busier in Paris. Eventually, he had to devote his time solely to his Paris law practice.

Chris still has a close relationship with Zimmerman Law Firm and he often collaborates on larger cases with the firm in Dallas/Fort Worth. Chris’ law firm serves Lamar, Delta, Fannin, Red River, Hopkins, and Titus counties. However, he is entering new markets in the next year.

In addition to his local practice, Chris is the Contract Prosecutor for the Municipal Court, City of Paris. Through this position, he prosecutes a wide variety of matters ranging from misdemeanors to code enforcement. If that is not enough, he also acts as local counsel to out-of-town lawyers that have litigation matters before courts in Lamar County.

Fitzgerald Law areas of practice include:

  • Probate & Estate Administration
  • Wills & Trusts
  • Elder Law such as Medicaid qualification, guardianship services, and mental health issues associated with aging.
  • Real estate – development, leasing, banking/lending to finance transactions, contracts, and title work for real estate transactions.
  • Business law – entity formation, corporate compliance, contracts, and acts as general outside counsel.
  • General Civil Litigation which puts him in the courtroom in Lamar and surrounding counties.

On top of being a father to his wonderful daughters, Chris is married to Lydia Lindsey Fitzgerald. Lydia is a Realtor/Associate Broker with Coldwell Banker Regional Realty and they share a recently renovated office together on the West side of the downtown square.

Chris is actively involved in the local community as well. He has been a two-term past Chair for Fundraising with the United Way, on the City of Paris Airport Advisory Committee for 2 terms, the past President and past Treasurer of the Lamar County Bar Association, former member of Tarrant County Bar Association and a Bylaws Sub-Committee member, and he is a member of both the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and Texas Association of Elder Law Attorneys. Currently, he is in his second term as a member of the City of Paris Board of Adjustments. He also has dedicated more than 6 years to coach youth soccer locally.
