A man has additional charges after officers say he assaulted an officer in the jail.
Around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were inside the municipal jail when 23-year-old Stephen Harrison began throwing his shoes at the cell door.
Paris Police Lt. John Berry said as officers were removing Harrison’s shoes from the cell, Harrison lunged at one of the officers.
“Harrison was placed on the floor by another officer,” Berry said. “He continued to attempt to hit, kick and bite the officers.”
Berry said Harrison ended up biting one of the officers on the head.
“During the incident, one officer received a scratch to the head and elbow,” Berry said. “Harrison was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.”
